Gaza Freedom Flotilla Attacked by Israeli Navy

You may have heard that the 9 boats trying to bring food and other supplies to Gaza have been attacked. Please, share the news. But don't say they've been "intercepted" like some media outlets. A ball is "intercepted" in American football. There are 10 people dead. 30 injured. That's an attack.

The folks on those boats are risking their lives to do two things: bring food to Gazans and show the world just what Israel will do to keep food out of Gaza. Exposing the brutality of Israeli's occupation and siege on Gaza is essential. And you know who's going to have to do that? Us. The media won't do it. They're going to keep pretending that the occupation is a football game between two equal opponents. And this is nothing like football.

You xan help the flotilla be successful by participating in these actions: http://gazafreedommarch.org/cms/en/flotilla.aspx

It's too bad the flotilla ignored the Israeli army's request to be examined and then attacked them with stun grenades, chains, metal poles, etc...

After an attack like that, I'm sure they were thinking something was going on with the flotilla. Poor choices have consequences.

Joe, I don't have time to get into this with you, but credible reports indicate that the fotilla did not attack the Israeli army with stun grenades, chains, metal poles, etc. And not even the Israeli government is indicating that humanitarian workers attacked the Israeli navy before the Israeli army attacked them. The narrative you're giving here is not claimed by anyone, even the Israeli government.

You and I, however, aren't going to be able to say what happened exactly on those boats. That's why I join Israeli humanitarian organizations, American-Jewish organizations, Palestinian organizations, and other human rights orgs in calling for an independent investigation. I encourage you to call for the same.

Joy, I agree that there should be an investigation.

However, there is video supposedly showing stun grenades being thrown at the Israeli boat at http://gatewaypundit.firstthings.com/2010/06/peace-activists-on-gaza-flotilla-threw-stun-grenades-beat-israeli-soldiers-with-chains-video/

Sorry, I don't see activists doing those things on that video.

Then who were the people throwing dishes, using pipes, twirling chains, throwing flash grenades, etc in the video?

It's just not possible to see much of anything in that video. I'd also like to point out that I've seen two different "IDF" videos claiming to be of the same event but making different claims.
